Suggest Treatment For Mood Swings And Anxiety While Treating PCOS And Amenorrhoea
Question: I have been diagnosed with PCOS and also suffering from secondary amenorrhea. I have been on a variety of hormonal medications over the years (Duoluton, Modus, krimson 35 etc), and i would like to understand the possible effects of taking such medications. I have been experiencing mood swings and anxiety, and i would like to understand if this is because of medication or a symptom of the pcos itself?
Brief Answer:
Due to disease process
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
PCOD is an endocrinological disorder which is known to cause menstrual problems and infertility due to poor egg quality and maturity.
All these symptoms are related to hormone imbalances and thus will stay under control till you will take these pills.
So take pills as advised and leave them when you plan pregnancy.
All the best.

Thank you so much for responding Dr XXXXXXX
So the mood issues are because of the pcos itself right, and definitely not made worse because of the medication itself? Sorry i should have mentioned earlier, that I did not respond to Modus tablet (Medroxyprogesterone) very well, it actually made all my usual symptoms even worse. (abnormal bleeding, severe hairfall which did not happen with the other tablets, acne became worse) but most of all felt very stressed and anxious compared to before tablets.
In such case what should i do as i have been advised by my doctor not to keep taking hormonal medication for long? Also each medicine has different composition, so what can be done as i am worried about both physical and mental sude effects.
Thanks,
xxxxxx

Brief Answer:
Weight restrictions
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, sorry for the delay in response.
Yes the side effects are because of PCOD but are increased because of modus intake which has pure progesterone with androgenic effects.
Alone modus should not be taken as it will not help in modifying the disease but will only get you periods after withdrawal.
So in case you are not planning for a baby soon then take ginette 35 regularly for at least 3-6 months and then see the response.
Plus as additional thing weight reduction is a very effective measure.
All the best.
