Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion And Common Cold

I am a woman, 27 years old, 6 weeks pregnant. I caught a common cold which is not that bad per se, but the worse is that nose stuffiness keeps me awake at night, I cannot breathe at all through my nose, and if I breathe through my mouth my throat gets very dry and sore.
The only thing that helps is a nasal spray I was using, Triofan (which contains Xylometazoline) but I read online that it might harm the fetus. I was using it once, at most twice per day for the past few days and now I am really worried about it.
Should I continue using it, is it safe? If not, is there anything else I could take that would relief the nose stuffiness? I tried sea salt based nasal sprays, I tried steam but nothing seems to help.
Thank you
Occasional use is fine
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns about blocked nose.
Following is my reply:
1. Triofan is not safe but not very harmful if used occasionally. Use it at night before you sleep.
2. Meanwhile keep trying steam inhalation and sea salt based sprays.
3. 2 weeks is long time for cold to last. Hence if possible get examined by your doctor to check if there is superimposed bacterial infection.
4 . Antibiotics might be required to reduce the cold.
5. Baby's organs will develop in next 2 weeks. It is better to pull on till then after which you can use triofan spray more frequently as these next 2 weeks are important.
7. Remember occasional triofan use won't harm baby.
Let me know if you need any more clarification.
Regards
