Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion While On Aceclofenac And Amoxycillin

Question: Hi
I am 36 year male . I am getting green phlegm /mucus from my throat and nose. No cough and fever. My right nostril gets blocked in the night. I visited ENT. The doctor suggested amoxycillin and potassium clavunate tablets twice, aceclofenac and paracetamol tablets twice daily for 5 days. This is 4th day and the green mucus has not stopped. My throat seems to be sore. Can you please tell what could be the reason and the suggested treatment?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Sinus infection is more.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are mostly having Sinus infection.
Green phlegm suggest infection more and more likely pseudomonas.
And pseudomonas infection needs dual antibiotic support.
You should also start antihistamine drugs.
This will subside mucus and blocked nose.
Please let me know
1. Do you have headache?
2. Do you have Sinus heaviness?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

I dont have any headache and sinus heaviness but I have a nasal congestion which is trouble some in the night and affects my sleep. I am using otrivin if the nasal blockage is really heavy. But when I clean my nose in the morning thick green phlegm comes from my nose. I feel slightly better after that.
Brief Answer:
Better to take antihistamine drug at night.

Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are improving and mostly be alright in 1 week.
For your night time symptoms, in my opinion, you should take antihistamine drug (levocetrizine) at night before sleep.
It will help in nasal congestion and blockage at night. It also gives sound sleep.
Also do steam inhalation 4-5 times a day. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query.
