Brief Answer:
Possible cervical disc disease?Need confirmation
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through your query in detail.
Your symptoms possibly represent acute cervical disc prolapse.
The possibility of meningitis or IM is unlikely at this stage.
Cervical disc disease is known to coexist with TMJ disease.
Hence, it is important to screen for cervical disease through an MRI spine.
Further management is based on the test results.
Thank you.

would you just get a regular mri done of your neck or any lower than that/? I HAD A MRI OF MY NECK done about two years ago and it said I had degenerative disc disease then but would that make you hurt up inside your ear. Advil seems to help but I an coumadin for blood clots so that has to be watched also. If they can find the bad disc would not a steroid shot help? I want no one cutting on me. Thank you XXXX
Brief Answer:
A fresh MRI scan can only detect the need for any surgery
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.
I can understand your concerns.
Cervical spine MRI is alone sufficient in your case.
Since the disc prolapse is a degenerative and a progressive disease, it will be wise to get a rescan.
Disc diseases can produce pain deep inside ear due to the common nerve supply and pain referral.
Steroids will certainly help, but not always safe to use.
The need for surgery is largely determined by the extent of disc prolapse and nerve impingement.
I advise you to get a fresh MRI cervical spine and update me with the reports.
Based on which, I can guide you further.
Meanwhile, drugs like pregabalin and methylcobalamin can help to prevent any nerve damage. Please check with your physician if he can prescribe them to you.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
