Suggest Treatment For Neuropathy In Legs

Question: I have been diagnosed with neuropathy in the bottom of my left foot(orthopedic doc) although there is a lesser pain in my right foot. My PCP said it could be related to some left side lower back pain which I have to some minor degree all the time, but that pain does not bother me until I am doing phsical activity for a while. In the past I have been told I have a bulging disc in the lower back. Can the neruopathy be caused by a bulging in my low back. I am currently taking 300mg of gabapentin twice a day.

Brief Answer:
Yes Disc herniation can cause neuropathy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and Your doctor is right in saying this. Nerve compression is possible to due to disc herniation in spine. It is due to nerve passing in spine from brain to leg. Gabapentin is good medications for it. I have few other suggestions for you.
1.You should get your B12 examination as if your B12 is low then neuropathy is increased. You need to take Methylcobal one daily to take care of this.
2.Steorid injection can be given in spine,it will also improve leg pain.
3.There is also role of flexion group of exercises of the spine.
4.In resistant cases there is need of spine surgery.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
