Suggest Treatment For Night Terrors While On Celexa

Posted on Sat, 16 Apr 2016
Question: Hi I have sleep problems. I'm always tired no matter how much sleep I get or don't get. This has been going on now for months. Prior I was experiencing seizure like symptoms and violent shakes in my sleep. The doctors I've been seeing for this matter say there is nothing wrong with me... They also say being 60 pounds under weight is healthy... since going to Dartmouth Hospital ALL my medical records have disappeared... So now there is no proof of me even going there...

Brief Answer:
Sleep study needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

There's need for more information about your sleep problems (you have difficulty falling asleep or troubled sleep, how many hours do you sleep), and more information about any previous or present health issues such anxiety and depression, any drugs you use etc.

Besides seizures evaluation, in my opinion you need a sleep examination study, that is done only in specialized sleep center.

Night terrors should be considered as a possible cause of shakes during sleep.

I don't know what to say about loosing your medical documentation, but I guess these were all okay since there is no diagnosis still.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Awaiting for more information....

They did a sleep study for a night and said I don't have sleep apnea. I don't take any medications. I sleep on average 2 hours at night due to shakes. And I doze off during the day for 1 hour or two. When I was ten I was hit over the head with a sledge hammer. But those records were lost... Along with records of them medicating me with celexa for a week and it causing my liver to begin failing... So the only doctors in my state are all Dartmouth grads and they have yet stated why I can't sleep or anything or why I can't gain weight.

Brief Answer:
Post traumatic stress disorder.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for additional information.

In this case, I think you should consult a Neurologist or Psychologist about post traumatic stress disorder that explains both, lack of sleep and not gaining weight. Regarding any decision about Celelexa, a proper physical examination needed to comment further.

Hope I helped you.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

Best of luck.
