Question: Nose blocked for a long time with a lot of congestion. What should I do ?
This happens to me quite frequently and sometimes it seems it is also a result of an allergy with a headache because when I take Onacet (Cipla) , it becomes better.

Brief Answer:
allergy should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic,

The symptoms that you described can be due to allergies in the nose. Allergies of the nose can produce a variety of symptoms like running nose, block, sneezing, itching in the nose, headache and ear problems.

Diagnosis of allergy can be made only after examination. You have to see an ENT specialist to confirm allergy.

Diagnosing allergy is usually straight forward, but if confusion arises then your doctor will get allergy tests done, they can be skin or blood tests.

Allergy of the nose can be controlled very easily. You will have to take anithistamine and antileucotrine tablets and local steroid nasal spray.

Till you see the doctor you can take decongestaant nose drops like otrivin to clear the congestion. Instill 3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day for 6 days and follow it up with steam.

Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
