Question: My daughter about a couple of months ago was sleeping on a bed that was not very supportive , kind of a dip in it at the hips. all of a sudden over a few days her legs have become numb on the front of her thighs and tingly in the back , just from the knees to upper thighs. also there is random bruising showing up then going away. She has been for x-rays and some MRI's and they don't really see anything. Any suggestions ?

Brief Answer:
Needs work up and management

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Numbness in legs and tingling sensation in back should always be evaluated for any disc compressive illnesses of spine like disc prolapse etc. MRIs usually pick such lesions. You mentioning of normal MRI makes that unlikely.

Appearance of random bruises which self resolve however need evaluation and management. You need to get her evaluated for any blood coagulation disorder, platelet dysfunction etc to rule out bleeding diathesis.

Main aim should be trying to find the cause of numbness and tingling which is not organic then should be correlated for other neurological conditions like vitamin B 12 deficiency common in vegetarian diet eaters. rest assured age of 22 with no prior history of neurological illness should not be a worrisome cause. Talk to a neurologist and let them connect the dots.

I hope it helps. Take good care of her and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
