Suggest Treatment For Obstruction In The Anus

ADVICE REGARDING FOREIGN BODY IN ANUS
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting your query in HCM,
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.
See, first of all, there is high chance of that object passing through stool. Because of the object was stuck inside your anus for some time at least and it could have injured your anal mucosa, so an irritation or mild pain is quite normal. It will not be present anymore in a few days.
However, if the object still remains inside your anus or rectum, the irritation might continue and a local inflammation and infection is likely. The injury to mucosa can cause tinges of blood in your stool or pain in the rectum during defecation or in other times also. But chances of a small round thing to stay in rectum is unlikely.
But still i would ask you to go to the ER and get it checked. A digital rectal examination or an examination with proctoscope will reveal its presence if it is in the lower parts. Still, the chances are very less.
Hope I have answered your question.
You can ask me any other question and I will be happy to help.
Regards

As you said i ve consulted with a doctor... she said need to do x ray to see where is the object....will it be helpful?? is there any life risk with it?? please clear my confusions..

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
See, as i have told you before, an object entering the intestine can cause minor local tissue and mucosal damage and lead to irritation even after it has come out as long as the local tissue damage heals.
The long term complications are local inflammation and infection, obstruction or adhesions but they look unlikely in your case.
And for X-ray, it is an important diagnostic tool alongwith the digital rectal examination and proctoscopy which I had mentioned earlier. If had gone in through anus so could have gone much far against peristalsis so the latter examinations plus an X-RAY should be sufficient.
Lastly, there is negligible life risk if treated properly. You can take it as no rather.

RADIOLOGY AND TREATMENT FOR RECTAL FOREIGN BODY
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
A normal X-ray like an X-ray abdomen or pelvis AP and LATERAL view erect posture is advised generally. If the foreign body is found in the X-ray, you might not need any other examinations as the location will be already determined.
After that, you will be properly sedated so that it doesn't become painful for you. Then with proctoscopes and forceps, the foreign body can be taken out. Other procedures like balloon inflation etc are present but generally not needed.
You will be given painkillers and antibiotics. A rest of 2-3 days is advised if there is no complications.
However, all these are required only when you still have the foreign body inside.

i went through an xray and the object was not there. As i had irritation feeling my doctor gave me the annovate ointment for 1 week. i was perfectly fine hence i stopped using that cream after 2 days. but now after 1 week again i am feeling some kind of irritation. Its not paining but kind of uncomfortable feeling on the left side mostly. I feel some kind of soreness or fullness and i feel like going to the toilet. there is no bleeding and no abdominal pain. I just feel something is there inside mostly when i am lying on the bed. sometimes if i divert my mind then the feeling won't be there. what could it be??there is no bleeding only minor ache which is like soreness or fullness.
Please help me..
APPLY THE OINTMENT AND THE PRESCRIBED MEDICATION
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Its good to know that the Xray did not reveal the presence of any object. Also that you came up with a feedback.
See, i still feel that the irritation is somewhat more psychological than anything else. This can happen sometimes, more when there had been some irritation for a prolonged time.
Do the following-
Apply annovate ointment for a week.
Take TAB Normaxin-RT twice a day for 10 days. This is a prescription drug. Please get it prescribed by your doctor.
Give me a feedback after 10 days.
There should not be any further problem.
Still if there is any, a Gastroeneterologist can be consulted.
regards.

please reply..
ANY SERIOUS PROBLEM IS UNLIKELY
Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
See, if you did not have any problem prior to this incident of an object stuck in your anus, i assume there should not be anything very serious.
You need not worry as of now.
Just get going with the medicine and the ointment for 10 days. Warm water bath or SITZ bath as we call it, might have a soothing effect. You can take it, there is no harm. If even after the course, the irritation or fullness persists, as i have said, a Gastroenterologist may be consulted, a proctoscopy or colonoscopy might be required. But that would depend entirely on your condition after this period. I believe it wont be needed.
It is unlikely there is any swelling inside, and it will need investigations to prove it.
regards
