Suggest Treatment For Oily Scalp And Dandruff
Question: Hello doctor,
My name is XXXX 27 years old. I have oily scalp and dandruff problem..I have to take head bath every alternative day otherwise hair looks very oily...have tried shampoos like head and shoulder, himalaya, tresemme shampoo but no improvement...request you to suggest best shampoo for oily and dandruff shampoo...thanks

For dandruff, you should use medicated shampoo containing ketoconazole like Scalpe shampoo/ AFK shampoo. The shampoo should be used every alternate day and should be left for 4-5 minutes on scalp before you wash it off.
Dandruff is a highly recurring condition and if you completely stop usi g anti dandruff shampoo, it may appear again. So I always advice my patients to use anti dandruff shampoo initially on alternate day basis till dandruff completely disappears. Afterwards make it twice a week followed by once a week and finally use it atleast once fortnightly as maintenence therapy.
Avoid hair oil application.
