Suggest Treatment For Open Blisters And Drainage In The Legs
Question: My mother is 75 years old and overweight. Both her legs are very swollen. She says that her left leg has open blisters and clear drainage no pus. The blisters are on the shin, left side of shin and back of calf. Her right leg is red and on the shin is bumpy but not painful. Warm to the touch but not hot..

Because both legs are affected, it is unlikely that she has an infection. Causes of edema of both lower limbs are heart, liver and kidney problems. I will like to know if she has had any of these conditions or is being managed for any at this time.
In the interim, she should keep the legs raised, reduce her salt and fluid intake aso as to facilitate fluid drainage/excretion and reduce the edema.
