Brief Answer:
Yes, treatment depends on the stage.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.

There are many risk factors for OSMF(oral submucous fibrosis) like tobacco, betel nut, spicy foods. The main stay of preventing the progression of disease is avoiding risk factors. Then depending on the restriction of mouth opening the treatment ranges from local injections to surgical treatment.

I recommend the following.

1) Avoid smoking and tobacco usage.
2) Avoid spicy foods.
3) Maintain good dental and oral hygiene.
4) In the initial stages hydrocortisone and hyaluronidase injections are given submucosally.
5) In late stages with marked restriction in mouth opening surgical measures are taken to relieve the restrictions.
6) Mouth opening exercises are adviced following both injections and surgical treatment.
7) Consult an ENT doctor for the same.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.

Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
