Question: My husband is 84. He has osteoarthritis which causes pain in his left wrist and knee and really most of his joints. He has had his right knee replaced and his left ankle replaced. This spring both his sister and brother-in-law died within a 30 day time spam. About 5 weeks ago he fell and broke his right wrist. He will be getting the cast off next week. He does not have very much of an appetite and yet he has too much tummy weight for the first time because he really can't exercise. The problems - he is always nauseated, very often has a headache, feels as if he is in a brain fog all the time and just generally aches all over and has no energy or enthusiasm for anything. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Proper supplements will help him after blood investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The feeling of nausea and headache can be due to gastritis and hypertension or atherosclerosis. The feeling of brain fog can be due to age related dementia. The generalized aches are due to osteoarthritis and decreased levels of vitamin D3 and calcium.
All this needs proper investigations to find out the exact cause so that proper supplements can be started to make him feel better. A detailed cardiac check up is also needed to assess any cardiac related problem. He can right now start with a multivitamin, calcium and vitamin D3 supplement with a mild pain killer and see if this helps.
I hope this answers your query.

What is the possibility my husband is suffering from fibromyalgia and the generalized arthritic type pain that goes with that also the "brain fog"? He has had a recent cardio checkup and no problem was found. I do understand the narrowing of atherosclerosis can slow down the brain. Can it also cause a foggiest? He does not seem to have any other signs of dementia. His sister did have Lewy Bodies with Parkinsons.

We will get going on the supplements you suggested right away. He is on a med fit blood pressure that he has taken for a number of years.

Brief Answer:
Brain fog can be due to atherosclerosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The brain fog is not likely to be due to fibromyalgia or arthritis. Brain fog can be due to atherosclerosis. Parkinsonism also needs to be ruled out after consulting a neurologist. Do start with the supplements and consult a physician for detailed check up.
Hope my answer is helpful.
