Suggest Treatment For Osteoporosis While On Prednisone

Question: Should I take Prolia? In the past two years I have had Polymaligia rheumatica, fell on right shoulder and it was fractured and obviously diagnosed with osteoporosis. I have been on synthroid for many years because of growth on thyroid; took prednisone for Polymylagia rheumatica. I had 15 ft. of my intestines removed in 1965.

I am being pressured by my primary physician to take Prolia. What should I do?

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that you should take prolia as it will improve your bone health as they are already weakened because of steroid intake. Also you should take vitamin D supplements to help with bones and general health. Any doubts please ask.

I have been taking Vit D for some years and my blood tests every 6 months have shown that I am over the recommended number.

Why is intestine surgery a warning factor?

Should I not be concerned about other side effects of Prolia?

Well all medicines have side effects but we need to consider the benefits. Other option is to go for injection zoledronic acid once a year . And also they will regularly monitor you for side effects if any . So dont be afraid of that . what for is intestinal sugery your concern ?
