Suggest Treatment For Pain And Discomfort In The Throat
Question: Hi Doctor,
About a month and half ago i started feeling some discomfort and a little pain on the middle right side of my throat. when i wake up i dont feel it much and it hurts more after passing food. I thought it was a normal sore throat so i went to the ENT and the doctor did not notice anything but still gave me antibiotics augmentine 1g...that feeling ofcourse didnt go away so he used the endoscopy camera tool to see deep inside my throat in which he found nothing and told me that maybe its from my stomach...after that i went to a thyroid doctor to check my thyroid glands through physical examination and ultra sound with blood test...all blood tests were normal with ultra sound showing normal...saw a Gastroenteroligist doctor 4 days back which she did physical exam but not internal and prescribed pantozol which i started...do you have any recommendation on what i should do next? Or what this discomfort in my throat could be? Thanks

Pain in throat can be due to pharyngitis, candidiasis, reflux disease or it can be nerve pain.
Please tell me do you have any frequent nasal infections or throat infections?
Any history of diabetes?
Any history of tobacco use or smoking?
Any swelling or bulge in the neck when you cough?
Please send me the pictures of your throat and follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.

I do not have any history of diabetes.
I smoke moderately and almost one cigarette a day. sometimes nothing a day.
no swelling or budge in the neck.
I do not have any pics of my throat actually.
The ENT doctor mentioned that it is red but no inflammation or bacteria found from swab.

Hi
Thanks for the pictures.
You are having posterior pharyngeal wall congestion rather than pharyngitis. You should get a x-ray paranasal sinuses done and throat swab for culture sensitivity done. You are probably having some nasal pathology causing these symptoms.
Take tablet vitamin c once daily and hexidine gargles.
Take a combination of levocetrizine and pseudoephedrine twice daily and xylometazoline nasal drops three times a day for a week.
All the medicines I have prescribed will be available at prescription only.
Continue with the antacid.
Follow up with the reports.
Take care
Thanks and regards
