Suggest Treatment For Pain And Redness In The Rectal Area
Question: I have a very red angry looking area around my rectum. Very painful. About an inch in diameter. Suddenly appeared yesterday. Was thinking yeast however no white showing, only TEF.

The most probable causes can be as per the history your have provided are:
- Excoriation of the peri-anal skin by infection that has come from stool.
- Allergic reaction can cause similar problem.
- Dermatitis with secondary infection of the skin.
Peri-anal skin is very sensitive hence the extreme pain.
I would advise you the following:
- It is better to be examined by a General Surgeon or a Dermatologist to get the correct diagnosis so that the treatment would be curative.
- Do not apply anything locally other than Xylocaine type jelly if it is controlling pain and Liquid Povidone to keep the area sterile to avoid further infection which is common in this area due to typical position, accumulation of sweat and other irritants increasing the symptoms.
- May need antibiotic, metronidazole if infection is suspected.
- And oral antihistamine and steroids if allergic reaction is suspected.
