Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling On Lower Buttocks
![default](/r/images/default.png)
May be fistula-in-ano
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate but short history.
To recapitulate: swelling right side in between lower buttocks - pain on walking and sitting -goes away but comes back every 2 to 3 months.
The most probable diagnosis as per your history is a condition called fistula-in-ano.
I would advise in such a situation the following to all my patients with similar history:
- MRI of the area during an attack so that I can know whether the diagnosis of fistula is certain or something else is present.
- Or a fistulogram
- Clinical evaluation, per-rectal digital examination and proctoscopy to start with to see if there is an internal opening.
- Colonoscopy should be done in all such cases to see if there is any primary infection is present or not.
Once the diagnosis is made as to whether fistula is present or not, to decide whether this is of a ''low or ''high'' type and then to decide the future course.
For all this to happen I request you to see a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, confirmation of the diagnosis and to undertake investigations and go for surgery.
I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis and a plan for further treatment.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
