Hello and welcome,

I am assuming that you are taking the Prilosec for GERD or gastritis?

Is your problem with sleeping from GERD or something else?

In some people, the proton pump inhibitors can cause reflux and then a different acid reducer, such as ranitidine (Zantac) would be better. But I don't want to tell you to take Zantac if your doctor has evaluated you and feels you need to be on a proton pump inhibitor. If that is the case, I advise if you are in so much pain that you can't eat, that you call the prescribing doctor or go in to the urgent care clinic or ER. That is an excessive amount of pain and should be looked into.

Try eating very small amounts of food at a time. When I had stomach problems, I used to cook the food very well, put it in the blender with a little water and blend it. Eat it in small amounts like baby food. Not palatable, but it caused less pain.

I hope this information helps. And I hope you start to feel better soon!
