Brief Answer:
It is planter fasciitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Pain in heel due to calcaneal spur is common problem. It causes pain and inflammation. I gave following advise to my patients with same complains.
1. Avoid wearing very tight or hard foot wear. Use soft spongy foot wear. You can put silicone insoles.
2.Hot water fomentation.
3. Tablet Brufen or Nise can be taken when pain is very bad.
4. Steroids injection can be given if all above measures are not working. They can offer permanent cure in some. Injection can be repeated after 3 months.
5. As a last resort, surgery can be done for shaving heel spur. It can be done by endoscope.

Discuss these options with your treating doctor.

I hope this answer will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other follow up questions.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Shoe modification can be tried

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I also agree with your doctor. Shoe modification can be useful for you.
Name of steroid injection is depomedrol. It shouldbe given by a trained orthopaedic surgeon.
Cost of surgery is not much, as it does not need any implant. But exact price differ in all hospitals.
Recovery time is two to three weeks. Though it depends on your size of spur and procedure used.
Let me know if you want to ask any other questions.
Thanks
