Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Cheeks And Mouth
Question: Hi, I am having problem of TMJ since past 3 months. It started with chewing and on visit to a dentist, he asked me to open the mouth wide. After that, the pain in my cheeks and mouth persisted on chewing, opening of mouth while brushing etc. I feel tightness in the muscles of my face. Sometimes, it is better and sometimes the pain returns. I have been doing jaw exercises like opening, closing of mouth, moving of jaw from left to right and right to left. I am not able to move jaw to front and back because of pain. What is the treatment, should i continue exercises and wait and for how long. Should i get laser and ultrasound treatment, will it cure the problem. What are the other courses of treatment. I have already tried painkillers and muscle relaxants.
Brief Answer:
subluxation of the tmj joint
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, you might be having subluxated temporo mandibular joint . Stop exercises which may aggravate the condition. Pain killers and muscle relaxant might help u temporarily. Treatment for this is first evaluation with X ray of tmj and treat accordingly. If it subluxated joint needs manual or surgical correction. This is to be done by a dentist . So I would suggest you to consult with dentist and get evaluated. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
