Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Right Groin Area In An Elderly Person
Question: I am experiencing Severe pain in my right groin area down to my calf. I started suddenly and nothing makes it better so far. 58 yr old female w/history of PE and DVT. Do I need to be checked?
Brief Answer:
it depends
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HealthcareMagic.
If there is just pain, with no swelling in groin or calf, no redness, fever, skin paleness, loss of sensation then this is most likely to be neuropathy and can be treated with rest, painkillers and elastic stockings.
However if you experience these additional symptoms then you need to do tests such as ultrasound and d-dimers to rule out a femoral hernia, DVT or even arterial occlusion.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
