Question: Hi, for three weeks I have been having off and on pain in both sides of my testicles. I've been to a doctor at first and got negative tests for all stds through urine tests. I did a two week course of doxcicyclne which didn't really help. Since I'm away on vacation now is there any other antibiotic I can take as I won't have access to a urologist or ultrasound for the next week. Please answer asap

Brief Answer:
Take Erithromycin twice daily for a week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have pain in testicles since 3 weeks .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have other urinary symptoms like frequency, urgency, burning for urination etc associated with pain in testicles ?
2) Do you have swelling of testicles ?
3) Was your urine culture and sensitivity test done before taking Doxicycline ?
4) Did you have history of unprotected sex in recent past?

The pain in testicles may be mostly due to infection of testicles (Orchitis) transmitted through unprotected sex

STD test and urine routine examination done in early period may not be conclusive as for s STD is concerned .

Since you do not have satisfactory response to Doxicycline I would suggest you to repeat following test to rule out STD .

In the mean while take Erithromycin and anti inflammatory medicine like Diclofenac twice daily daily for a week and consult qualified Urologist once you are back from vacation for clinical evaluation and get following basic tests done under his guidance .
1) Urine routine and culture
2) Ultrasound Scanning of Scrotum
3) Blood test for STD and HIV.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
