Suggest Treatment For Painful Swallowing When Diagnosed With Tortuous Oesophagus

difficult problem
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question,
A tortuous esophagus is a difficult problem. The antacid that you are taking, lansoprazole, is a good medication for preventing acid reflux that can occur with this condition but it does not treat the problem of the misshapen esophagus. A tortuous esophagus often comes from an abnormality in the nerves to the esophagus which keep it in its normal shape. There are no medications available that can correct this problem. It may be helpful to discuss possible surgeries with your gastroenterologist as sometimes a surgery can help with problems in swallowing and getting the food from the mouth to the stomach.
The chest pain comes from a lack of motility in the deformed esophagus and food gets stuck in the esophagus and causes pain. Careful and extended chewing, staying upright after meals and drinking water with meals may help get the food moved through the esophagus to the stomach.
I am sorry you are having this problem and I hope some of these suggestions are helpful to you.
Regards,
