Suggest Treatment For Painful Swollen Ankle After Childbirth

I have been to physical therapy (no help), and a podiatrist. He suggested resting it, no activity, Advil and cold foot baths. The relief is temporary, but exercise aggravates it. It also swells during weight bearing exercise. I do wear orthotics, and good shoes that provide stability. It is not even stable enough to wear low heeled shoes. I must wear good tennis shoes or flats. I do wear a brace daily to prevent swelling, see a chiropractor, and do exercises specifically for the foot and ankle, however; the problem persists. Everyone I have seen believes it is a soft tissue problem. I did take yoga for a few months, and they worked with my foot, and this seemed to help more than anything tried thus far. What would my next step be?

Hi
Thanks to your query
I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar
After going through your query I concluded that you may be having early osteoarthritis of the ankle joints. You can get x rays of both ankles AP and lateral views to confirm this. This can be your next step.
Diacerine and glucosamine will be of help to prevent it further progress and to some extend repair it. Good soft shoes and splintage are of help. You can take analgesic (you are already talking advil) for pain relief. Hot fomentation will be soothing.
You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then please don't hesitate to write to me. I will be happy to help.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
