Question: The last doctor could not give me a good prevention, so I hope the next will be better.

I am a soccer player. I play not that much but play. During a game situation when I start running my hight rate goes up which is normal continous running at full speed causes my heart rate to go even faster and this causes me to have a feeling like i am going to throw up. What can I do to stop this as I am training to become a professional soccer player.

Brief Answer:
Gastro-esophageal reflux and hiatal hernia should be also ruled in/out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!

I am the same doctor who gave you some advices about how to investigate further your cardiovascular system. As a cardiologist I tried to focus primary on any possible cardiac disorders underlying your actual clinical scenario (the fast heart rate).

While you refer that have already had a medical check up, though not specified what exactly have been your performed cardiac tests and their results, LET ME EXPLAIN THAT OTHER POSSIBLE EXTRA-CARDIAC REASONS MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTUAL COMPLAINS.

As you experience an unpleasant feeling of fast heart rate and the feeling like you are going to through up, I recommend you to discuss with your attending doctor about a possible gastro-esophageal reflux or hiatal hernia, which may be the cause of such an exacerbation while on physical exertion (faster heart rate associate with the feeling of throwing up.

In such case a fibrogastroscopy test and gastric antisecretors like omeprasole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole, etc or ranitidine, famotidine, etc could be of help to relieve your complains.

But first you need to rule in/out such a strong suspicion by your gastro-enterologist.

I hope that this alternative opinion will be of help is clarifying you current clinical status.

Nevertheless, let me know if further you need further clarifications about this issue (meantime i recommend you to explore also the previous topics I suggested before, as all body systems are interrelated to each other’s and a comprehensive differential diagnosis is necessary).

I hope to have fulfilled your expectations this time.

I am at your disposal whenever you need!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
