Question: I am having cramps in the pelvic region. I had a complete hysterectomy last May. Went to the Dr. And had a cat scan, and it came out normal. He gave me diclofenac, but it is really not doing the tric. will I have to contend with these cramps for the rest of my life????

Detailed Answer:
Hi my dear,

I understand your concerns. There are various factors causing cramps in the pelvic region:
- although you had hysterectomy, your ovaries might be there too. Can you please report if they did let your ovaries or part of them there? Because, when ovaries are left, you will feel pelvic cramps like cyclic pain. Usually, within the first year, these cramps will be subsided, however, there are cases when women have reported to have cramps for much longer (a couple of years after operation). Mephenamic acid is also a good choice to relieve the pain together with applying warm clothing locally.
- urinary tract infection: are you having burning while urinating? frequent urination?
- vaginal infection although you had complete hysterectomy
- adherences after operation: however, your cat scan was normal.

The reason for my hysterectomy was a growth on my left ovarie. They took everything out. It was a large cyst. The dr. Seemed to think it is scar tissue.
Is themephenamic acid an over the counter med.?
i haven't received an answer to my follow up. Also, I have been using a heating pad and XXXXXXX XXXXXXX strips at the area where I am getting the cramps.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back my dear,

Ok, then, if they took all your ovaries out too, then, your pain is due to scar tissue (adherences in medical term).

Yes, you can find mephenamic acid over the counter. Continue with heating pad locally together with soaking your feet in warm water.

All the best!
