Suggest Treatment For Penile Psoriasis

default
Posted on Wed, 27 Jul 2016
Question: This has been a lingering issue for roughly a year. it has not really gotten worse but has not improved either. I have thought I could figure it out with some home remedies but not much luck.
I have tried many types of antifungals but they don't seem to do much at all. I suppose this could possibly be sexual related but not sure. I have not been sexually active since first seeing this.
little to no itch on skin. periodic pain while urinating. slight itch inside urethra.. seems to be small amount of whitish yellow discharge - I see it dried in my underwear

Brief Answer:
Herpes

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is looking like herpes genitalis.
I treat such cases with topical acyclovir cream to be applied thrice daily for a month.
I would like to know few additional details.
1. These lesions remain constant or they completely disappear and then reappear ?
2. Are lesions water filled when they first appear ?
Please answer the above so I can help you better.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

they are definitely constant. no water though when they appear. they seem to show up as a red spot and tend to dry up and flake away. thank you too

Brief Answer:
Psoriasis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
You have developed penile psoriasis.
It's not an infection and is not related to sexual activities.
It's an autoimmune disorder.
You need treatment with a mild steroid cream like cortisone to be applied twice daily for a month.
This should help you.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Not only is that a relief, but it seems that diagnosis was spot on! I'm very pleased to say that after only 2 days of applying the cortisone cream, it is about 85-90% cleared up. I will continue as directed. just wanted to say thank you!
