Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2016
Question: For the first (and last!) time i recently got into a sexual situation that was out of my control. I was forced to ingest a small amount of human feces. Hard to say but the amount seemed like about a large tablespoon. I thought I would throw up (or hoped...) but did not. This was about 10 days ago. About 4 days later i developed diarrhea. Total liquid stool. In the days since it has become a little firmer but is not better. I'm worried to death, embarrassed, and not sure what to do. I have no cramps, no fever, no sickness at all except the diarrhea. What should I do? I'm too humiliated to see my GP.

Brief Answer:
Most likely due to faecal bacteria.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone though your query. Your bowel upset is most likely due to faecal bacteria. It will be self limiting.

You can take electrolytes and fluids according to loss. Taking tender coconut water and ORS will be helpful. You can also take probiotics. Natural probiotics like yogurt or kefir or curd can be taken also. Taking banana is also good. You can apply hot water bag to get relief from cramps. Taking H2 blockers like ranitidine (zantac) is also good.

If this is not helping then you should get a stool routine and culture to rule out infection and causative agent. In positive case antibiotic will be needed.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
