Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dry Cough And Post Nasal Drip

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Feb 2017
Question: I have developed very ropey, thick saliva which I attributed to wearing beginning invisalign treatment. I am now done with that and still have the thick saliva. Since October I have had a persistent dry cough. I do not believe I have much by way of post nasal drip. It feels more as you would after spending a night (such as wedding) where you have stressed your vocal cords. My voice is at time raspy.

Brief Answer:
Possible Upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam

As per your symptoms, you seem to have mild to moderate upper respiratory tract infection.

It's advisable to get the following tests

1.Chest x ray

2.Complete blood counts

3.Pulmonary function tests(PFT's)

Further management if any is largely based on test results

Update me with the test reports.

Meanwhile, a short course of antibiotics like Augmentin will help to improve your symptoms.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these pills to you.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you
