Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dry Cough

Question: I have been coughing(dry cough, no phlegm) since almost a month now. It is only during later part of the evening after I return from office. I doubt it is induced by dust or something as such. Should I go for some kind of tests?

Hello XXXXXXX thanks for your question on HCM. Cough for more 2 weeks is known as chronic cough and should definitely need basic investigations to rule out common diseases.
I give you steps to proceed.
1. Chest x ray to rule out any infection.
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out allergen induced bronchitis. In your case allergen may be dust.
3. Consult pulmonologist.
If chest x ray is normal than PFT will help to find whether bronchitis is present or not as infection and bronchitis is quite common and easily treatable.
So consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and PFT. And start treatment accordingly.
