Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: I've been having this dry cough for a while and I sometimes cough mucous. About a week later now I still have it and I had a couple patches of white on my tongue but I was able to peel it off. I drink occasionally and I smoke sometimes. My nose is producing a lot of mucous and its darker yellow. My glands on my neck are swollen and all the stuff is in my head area. I'm having troubles sleeping and my throat is sore and feels crowded. I'm having zits above my top lip but nothing yo noticeable. I'm sexually active but with one girl and i don't know if I should be worried about HIV or if its something else. My throat always itches. Plus its affected my voice which I lost on may 30th from yelling which is when I got all the symptoms besides the cough. Its gotten worse

Brief Answer:
Better to get done HIV testing and chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should get done chest x ray and HIV testing.
Since you are sexually active, HIV must be rule out first in your case.
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
If both HIV and chest x ray is normal then you are mostly having severe bacterial upper respiratory tract infection.
So you need antibiotics, antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs.
Avoid oily and spicy food. Drink plenty of fluids orally. Avoid hard to chew food. Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

Yes, you should get done HIV testing today.
Just make sure that they are using Elisa method of testing.
And you are mostly having vitamin b complex deficiency due to liquor.
So better to avoid liquor and start treatment suggested by me in the previous answer. Also start multivitamin tablet.
