Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dry Cough

Question: I have had a dry cough for about 3 weeks. Coughing so bad at times I throw up. Was placed on antibiotics that finished about 3 days ago. Still coughing with pain when taking deep breaths. Used inhaler and the pain went away. Was able to run3 miles today but difficult to catch breath during and after running. What could possibly be going on?
Brief Answer:
It could be due to hypereactive airways. Continue inhaler.

Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
I would like to know if you have any allergies like being uncomfortable and coughing in dust and smoke? You seem to be recovering from a bout of respiratory tract infection. Very often the airways become hypersensitive after a bout of respiratory infection and person may have cough and breathing difficulty. You should continue with inhaler preferrably those containing formetrol + budesonide or fluticasone + sametrol combination . You may also take a tablet of monteleukast levocetrizine daily. i am sure you will recover soon.
Wishing you good health.
