Question: my 5yr old continues to have a dry cough despite weeks of breathing treatment and allergy control medications. Any suggestions because we have already seen a doctor and he shows minor wheezing

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Such cough is usually due to allergic cause and may be hard to get rid of. Temperature fluctuations or low temperatures makes us more vulnerable and so it would be advisable to avoid cold temperatures. I would insist on giving steam inhalation. Water in form of vapor reaches deep inside and helps in diluting the cough and thus provides relief. Give Albuterol when needed. Give Montair LC Kid syrup (monteleukast + levocetirizine) [prescription medicine] once daily for a month or so. That is all that can be done as of now.

Regards
