Suggest Treatment For Persistent Fungal Infection In Scrotum
Adequate dose and duration to be ensured to achieve a cure.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Fungal infections are different. Dermatophyte infections (Jock itch, ring worm), Pityriasis Versicolar and Yeast infections are common. The treatment vary with each condition.
Certain predisposition factors like Diabetes mallitus, Tight and synthetic clothing, sharing fomites, bathing in a common pool, immunosuppressive conditions and drugs are few. Looking for the same and try to either avoid or have a control. The treatment should be both topical and systemic in adequate dose and duration and to be completed without any break. If there is any other source with other parts of body (eg: nail), among the family members have to look for and to be eliminated. Lastly the drug resistance can be considered and an alternative treatment would help in this situation.

Thank you for you reply. While in Costa Rica I did spend time is a public pool and spa. I noticed the sore in my groin area about 4-5 days after returning. I am treating it with a topical anti fungle cream but it doesn't seem to help. Should I get tested for a sexual transmitted diseases?
Possible skin fungus.Oral tablets with consultation of dermatologist help.

Hi,
Welcome back.
Infection in the groin region following bathing in a pool is most likely be due to Jock itch. Topical antifungal creams alone will not be adequate. Oral anti-fungal antibiotic tablet is necessary to be taken. The dose and the preparation is according to the lesion, severity, your weight and as per the diagnosis.
So meet a Dermatologist and get cured fast.
Fungal infection is not a STD. But close skin to skin contact can cause transmission. As long as there is no sex contact, you need no test for STD.
If you could upload the picture further discussion can be done.
