Posted on Tue, 5 May 2015
Question: I just started having headaches Sat. what I thought were just headaches but over counter drugs don't do anything to relieve the pain. (exceederen, asprin, ect.) At times I feel like sock waves pulsating off and on. The strange part is it is all on my left side of my head. My left eye feels like pressure behind it and it waters. What to do??

Brief Answer:
You should be checked by a doctor.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

I believe that you should be checked by a doctor, sooner rather than later, perhaps even in the ER. I don't want to get you alarmed as headache can have a myriad of causes, most of which are benign like sinusitis, but since it has been about 72 hours, over the counter pain-killers do not work and you don't refer any history of prior headache issues I believe you should be examined. The fact that it is persistent on only the one side reinforces that as well.
So you should be checked for other physical neurological signs which could be indicative for stroke. Some blood tests (which could exclude a condition called temporal arteritis) and according to whether there are other signs or not perhaps brain imaging might be necessary.

I remain at your disposal for further questions.
