Suggest Treatment For Persistent Itchy Rash On Face And Chest
Question: I have a persistent rash across my face and chest, it is very itchy, no perfume changes ect and my dr said he didn't think it was food related.. I was prescribed predisone with no success, then was given a steriod cream that worked with very drying affects on my skin. The rash on my chest is gone but now there is a very dry/still very slightly spotty area underneath both my eyes/ slightly on my both my cheeks. My ears are itchy with spots behind both my ears. My dr spoke to another dr and they are leaving now to autoimmune disorders. And want bloodwork . Does this seem correct ? I am very anxious about this

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
There is a possibility of autoimmune disorder.
Most probably SLE or dermatomyositis.
Blood work up is necessary to find out exact cause for rashes.
Can you please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

This is when it was worst, the photo makes it look not that bad , but it was very very itchy and inflamed .
Brief Answer:
Photodermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the photograph.
I can see the rash is mainly located on upper chest.
Such involvement is mainly seen in photodermatitis.
I would like to know whether rash is located only on exposed part of body or on covered areas too?
Steroid cream in night and sunscreen in day is very effective. Please answer the above and let me know if you have any other doubt.
Thank you.

It is on my face and neck as well. I had no sun exposure before the rash started
Brief Answer:
Get blood work up done
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Photodermatitis is not always caused by sun exposure.
Any uv rays emitting source of light like fluorescent bulb can cause that.
You can continue using steroid cream and its better to get a blood work up done to rule out autoimmune disorders.
Let me know if you Have any other doubts.
Thank you
