Suggest Treatment For Persistent Keloid And Acne Scars

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2016
Question: I scar very easily. Have several keloids (sp?) on my shoulders from acne as a teenager. (I'm almost 65 yrs. old now.) Also have one keloid on my upper chest from a pimple -- the keloid is about 1 1/2" x 3". Other scars on my body are somewhat overgrown. I am thinking I need knee replacement soon but am concerned about scar tissue. Is overgrown scar tissue inside the body after knee replacement something to be concerned about, given my history?

Brief Answer:
Overgrown scar tissue inside the body is rare.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Your body has a tendency to form overgrown scar tissues. The chances of forming a scar tissue inside the knee after the surgery are less. It is difficult to predict whether any scar tissue will form inside or not or if it will pose any problems later on.
If your knees have undergone severe arthritic changes then the knee replacement is the only option. The chances of an internal scar formation is very less.
I hope this answers your query.
