Question: I was diagnosed with lumbar radiculopathy, was given a shot of prednisone and also instructed to take it for 15 days with Norco 10mg for pain. Still in pain.

I was diagnosed with lumbar radiculopathy, was given a shot of prednisone and also instructed to take it for 15 days with Norco 10mg for pain. I'm on my 4th day of treatment, yet the level of pain is the same as it is 4 days ago. Please let me know how long it takes for this treatment to take effect. Is there an alternative more effective treatment for pain. Please advise. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Check if Norco has Acetaminophen 325mg and take also Ibuprofen 400mg

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you continue to have pain despite the treatment.
The treatment you are taking should have given effect since the first dose you took, at least to have made you felt a bit better.

Please check if Norco 10 mg, except Hydrocodone 10 mg has also Acetaminophen 325 or 500 mg in its components. If not you can take one tablet of Acetaminophen 325-500mg together with it.

Also if that its not enough, you can add Ibuprofen 400mg every 8 hours, after food (unless you have it contraindicated for some other health reason).

Most people get much better in two weeks. Avoid provocative activities, but bed rest its not recommended totally.
After two weeks if needed you may consider physical therapy.

Hope this is helpful.
