Suggest Treatment For Persistent Sore Throat, Headache And Cough
Question: I have been sick for 3 weeks and today is my last day of amoxicillin 500. I had a bad sore throat headache and cough. I still have aches and pain headache and low grade fever and worn out. should I go back to the doctor?
Brief Answer:
Yes, you should
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
being sick for more than 3 weeks with a sore throat, headache and cough needs investigation for the cause. The most common pathogens cause diseases that last for 5-7 days. Infectious mononucleosis may last for much longer but this is a disease of the young. HIV infection and some uncommon pathogens may also cause such a protracted disease.
The potential causes are not always infectious though, so a new clinical encounter and perhaps laboratory testing may help.
I hope I've helped!
If you'd like more information, please give me more details about your condition (detailed symptoms description), your medical history and perhaps laboratory data (if you have any).
Kind Regards!
