Suggest Treatment For Pharyngitis
Looks like Granular pharyngitis and Oral submucous fibrosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.
Looking at your symptoms and pictures, you are suffering from Chronic Granular pharyngitis.Tiny reddish bumps seen in your pharynx are granulations.(granulation is a part of inflammation)
Granular Pharyngitis may result from repeated acute infections of the pharynx, chronic infections in the nose and paranasal sinuses leading to posterior nasal drip, Very hot drinks or highly spiced food ,Frequent hawking to clear the posterior nares is a very frequent source of irritation ,prolonged irritation of the mucous membrane of the pharynx caused by smoking, alcohol abuse, the inhalation of dust or noxious gases, Gastro-esophageal reflux, Faulty voice production and over use of voice.
For the treatment all the sources of irritation are to be avoided .
Avoid dust ,smoke and other pollutants.Avoid spicy food.Treatment of cold (with Antihistaminic like Cetrizine,Oral decongestant like Phenylephrine)if present.
Voice rest is essential
Speech therapy where faulty voice production is seen
Warm Saline gargles may be soothing and even relieves pain and irritation.
Drink lots of fluids(warm).
Warm turmeric milk might help as turmeric has Anti-inflammatory properties.
You may also get relief by taking Analgesic and Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen,Antacid like Pantoprazole and Vitamin C.
For the whitish colouration behind your last molar tooth,it looks like you might be having early stage of minimal Oral submucous fibrosis.
Causative factors include betel nut chewing, ingestion of chilies, genetic and immunologic processes, nutritional deficiencies, and other factors.
Treatment includes:Abstention from chewing betel nut and tobacco(if you have the habit),Minimizing consumption of spicy foods, including chiles,Maintaining proper oral hygiene,Supplementing the diet with foods rich in vitamins A, B complex, and C and iron,Avoiding hot fluids like tea, coffee.
You can also take a tablet containing multivitamin with antioxidant .
Please don't worry as you are not suffering from any serious problem. You just need to improve your life-style if any of the habit mentioned above might be causing the problem.
Hope this answers your question.I would be happy to answer if you have any follow-up question.Take care.
is cold water okay ?( i drink from the filter but it is kinda cool )
the part which im concerned about is that there is weird pain when swallowing saliva. it feels like something snapping on left side of head and sometimes on top.... it really causes overthinking. then i swallow again .i feel the pain coming from the throat and flowing like behind the left ear and somewhere there.
and also one side of my nose is harder than the other since i had blood come out though my nose last year ....but no pain.(and i have some popping sound from nose when i lay on the bed) once a doctor said it was because i have a deviated nose bone.
but really worried about the pain from swallowing saliva and i feel normal while eating...but feel like a lump in throat while drinking water.
thanks

Hi,thank you for your reply.
Cold water can increase your chances of suffering from sore throat. This happens because cold foods cause congestion of the respiratory mucosa. Respiratory mucosa is a protective layer covering the respiratory lining, which acts as defense mechanism against infections. When this mucosa gets congested , it exposes the respiratory lining to possible infectious agents, making it easier for viruses and bacteria to attack it and cause infections leading to a sore throat.
There can be following possibilites for the cause of snapping(cracking sound) on left side of head and pain flowing behind left ear while swallowing food:
1.)You might be suffering from from Nasal Congestion and Eustachian Tube Blockage. This is a tube that runs from the middle ear to the back of nose and this becomes blocked by sticky fluid, or mucus in case of nasal congestion. This in turn leads to a pressure build up in the ear which is released when you swallow or eat. leading to a popping sound in ear.
In such a case ,you may find relief by taking by taking Oral decongestant (like Phenylephrine) and Nasal Decongestant drops like Xylometazoline(if you are not suffering from hypertension, Mucolytic(like Ambroxol) and saline nasal spray.
2.)Wax inside the Ear
Earwax may get impacted on your ear drum, so when it vibrates like during swallowing, you may hear feel a popping sensation and even pain towards the ear. Removal of impacted earwax in the ear usually relieves the problem.
3.)Cricopharyngeal spasm-
Hyper-contraction of the cricopharyngeus muscle(upper esophageal sphincter), which causes a constricted or lump-in-the-throat sensation. You may feel a clicking sound on swallowing.
Individuals with cricopharyngeal spasm may describe a sensation of something stuck in the throat.Saliva is difficult to swallow, yet food is easy to swallow - eating, in fact, often makes the tightness go away for a time
A key indicator of cricopharyngeal spasm is that you can still eat without trouble, and that the troubling sensations described above actually tend to diminish or disappear you are eating. This happens because the cricopharyngeus muscle relaxes during swallowing (as it should), which temporarily relieves the hyper-contraction sensations.
Common causes include stress and anxiety.
Muscle relaxant, stress reduction will help in such a case.
4.)Gastro-esophageal reflux-it may cause feeling of lump in the throat and can be a cause of Granular pharyngitis.
Looking at the above possibilities,I would advise you to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor for the examination of your ear and nose.If examination is normal, then it would be advisable to consult a Gastro-enterologist to find out the cause like Gastro-esophageal Reflux and Cricopharyngeal Spasm.
Hope this answers your question.Take care.
