Question: My wife recently had a lot of pimples problem, we went to dermatologist. He suggested hormone test to see if its was due to some underlying problem. I have attached the hormone report. Would like to go for second opinion. Please me let know, something is not right in the report or some needs to be taken care immediately on whole level. Medical Background ------------------- My wife is fit and last year she suffered from Vitamin B12 deficient and Vitamin D. She used to have lot of leg pain and it was attributed to this deficiency. She is fit now and has no ailments.

Brief Answer: Hormonal assay is normal Detailed Answer: Hello dear, Welcome to healthcaremagic. I have read your query and understood your concern. I have seen the atttached reports also. They all are normal. I will like to tell you that these tests are done to rule out Polycystic ovarian disease in females which otherwise is an important cause of pimples in young to middle age group females. But as per hormonal reports, it is unlikely possibility. You need not to worry for this. Another important test done along with hormonal profile is ultrasound lower abdomen to look for cysts in ovary. If your wife has irregular menstrual cycles, history of excess recent weight gain or excess hair on body, she can go for ultrasound. If not, then is not required and PCOD is already ruled out by hormonal assays. For pimples, i usually advice topical clindamycin gel in the morning and benzoyl peroxide 2.5% in night time. In case of moderate to severe acne, oral antibiotics like doxycycline/ minocycline/ azithromycin are advised. Wash the face twice daily with soap and water. Do not squeeze and touch the pimples, else may leave the scar marks. I hope it helps. If you have further query, you may ask me. Stay healthy.
