Suggest Treatment For Pink Vaginal Spotting And Frequent Urination While On Keflex
Question: Hi I went to the doctor 2 days ago because I had some pink spotting. I also had frequent urination with some burning and itching. He did a urinalysis but the UTI test came back positive for red blood cells but no white blood cells.
He thinks it might be some type of vaginal infection. He put me on pyredium 3 times a day, keflex three times a day and vaginal Metrogel that I should use twice a day.
I starting taking all the medications Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, there was no more blood. Also, the urination has become less.
However, since last night, I have noticed some dark brown flecks whenever I wipe my vagina after urination. This morning the flecks were much less. Could it be the Pyrideum is staining the Metrogel? Seeing these little brown flecks got me scared.
I had my annual gynecological exam about 8 months ago and everything was ok.

Brief Answer:
There s no need for concern.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.
The reasons for noticed dark brown flecks could be one of the two:
1. This could be old blood mixed with vaginal secretions.
2. Pyridium stains all body secretions orange/ reddish. The vaginal secretions mixed with metrogyl pessary may be appearing as brown flecks.
So since your annual gynecological exam was normal, there is no need for concern.
These flecks will go away as you complete your treatment.
Best wishes,
Dr Rama
