Question: I have an intestinal parasite that seems to shed millions of eggs. I can feel them crawling out at night and they seem to take on a different form after leaving my body. I see them in the tub and also they are laying eggs in my pubic area. ? if they morph into flies. I have been tested for pin worms and it was negative.

Brief Answer:
Mostly a false negative test

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms,

I can understand your concerns but I have to consider that the pinworm test was most likely a false negative as all your symptoms are consistent with the symptoms of pinworms. For a pinworm test to be reliable, it has to be repeated in five consecutive mornings.

If you're my patient, I would recommend taking one of the anthelmintics for pinworm as follows:

Mebendazole 100 mg per mouth as single dose repeated every three weeks for three times or
Pyrantel pamoate 11mg/ kg per mouth single dose every 2 weeks for 3 consecutive doses or Albendazole 400 mg as a single dose every 2 weeks for 3 consecutive doses. As a successful eradication of pinworm infection requires at least 3 doses of medication, separated by 3 weeks.

I hope I answered your question.

Regards

I have tried a round of Reeses Pinworm suspension with some result. What really bothers me is that I saw something in my stool that resembled a tapeworm. It appeared to be flat 1 inch X 1 1/2 inch in length. Do I have more than one parasite?

Brief Answer:
Re-infection is very common

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, reinfection is very common, that is why it is recommended that the curative dose should be repeated three consecutive times separated by 2-3 weeks...

I hope you'll find this helpful
