Suggest Treatment For Plantar Fasciitis

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: I am 55 years old, jog 3 days a week and work out regularly. Over the past 6 months, I have developed significant pain in the lower portion of my right achilles tendon. It gets very stiff when I sit for extended periods of time and forces me to limp when I start to walk again. However, as I continue to move, it starts to loosen up and doesn't hurt as much (but still causes mild discomfort).
My questions are these: Is there anything in terms of stretching that I can do to alleviate this pain? I enjoy jogging and would like to avoid an extended period of rest if at all possible. Also, would it be beneficial to visit a licensed podiatrist?

Brief Answer:
Plantar fascitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

According to your history, you are suffering from typical symptoms of Plantar fascitis and possibly Retrocalcaneal bursitis.

Wear Microcellular rubber footwear. Perform Plantar fascia and Calf muscle stretching exercises. Dip your foot into XXXXXXX warm water with added salt for about 29 minutes a day and perform ankle movements in it. Physiotherapy is essential to treat this condition. Take Advil 400mg twice a day after meals and Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day before meals for 5 days.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
