Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia And COPD
Question: I have COPD. After a cold, I was diagnosed with pneumonia 10 days ago. For the COPD I use oxygen at night and when walking far or heavy exercise. Since the pneumonia, I have been using the oxygen 24/7. I am feeling much better, finished my medication, and am breathing much better. Should I remain on the oxygen for a while or is that not a good idea.
Brief Answer:
yes, staying on the oxygen for a while is a good idea
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question. I am glad that you are feeling better. It really takes the lungs a while to completely recover from the pneumonia. It would certainly be good for you to stay on the oxygen for another week or two until you are completely recovered. Then your doctor could check your oxygen levels off the oxygen just to make sure that you are okay to get back to as needed and night time use.
Best wishes to you for a full recovery soon.
