Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband age 63 is a patient of COPD for last 12 years. My Doctor has prescribed Deviry 10 (1-1-2). My office Doctor says it is prescribed to ladies. I want clarification on this.recently he has been prescribed Bozetan 62..5 (1-0-0). After that tablet patient s activities have slowed down. Does the tablet has such negative effects.I want to keep the correspondence confidential.
Deviry tablet 10 mg contains medroxyprogesterone which is similar to the progesterone hormone naturally produced by the body. It regulates periods, stops irregular bleeding and helps with withdrawal bleeding in cases of amenorrhoea or unusual stopping of menstrual periods. When administered in males, it lowers testosterone levels, lowering sexual drive without causing feminization. Medroxyprogesterone has been used in younger patients, including pedophiles and individuals with other mental illnesses and sexually inappropriate behavior. It can help men manage hot flushes that they get due to hormone therapy for prostate cancer treatment.
Medroxyprogesterone has been shown to stimulate ventilation in some patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and alveolar hypoventilation. This medication doesn't improve apnea frequency or sleepiness symptoms in patients with sleep apnea or COPD. There is an increased risk of thromboembolism with progestational agents. Your doctor is best judge to choose the right medications for your betterment and if you have any questions, then ask him.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
