Suggest Treatment For Pneumonia While On Prednisone

Question: 11 days ago, I was diagnosed with pneumonia. The xray showed a small pneumonia behind my heart. At the time I was diagnosed I had only a small cough. I was given Augmentin 875mg-125mg 2 times a day. In the following days I began coughing more and caused spasming of my lung. I returned to the doctors. They found much more fluid in left lung and started me on a z pack, prednazone 4mg dose pack, and an inhaler. I am on my 3rd day of treatment, my mucous levels seem to be improved but my spasms and chest tickle continue which causes me to cough. What can I expect going forward? Thank you and God bless

You have pneumonia and you are on your second course of antibiotics along with prednisone and an inhaler.

The mucous levels have improved but the tickle cough is still present. Your question is what to expect.

More than likely you will get better and the cough will subside. It may take a few more days before you notice a decrease in your cough but it will get better.

Make sure you use the inhaler as directed and this may help reduce your cough more than any cough suppressant.

This is typical of pneumonia and you should not be concerned about the way things are going at this time. But keep yourself protected from the cold.

Also try Steam Inhalation 3-4 times a day , it'll help with the mucus & cough & breathing.
