Suggest Treatment For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder And Headache

Question: Hi, my husband got into a minor car accident two weeks ago and did not seek medical attention, however, he's had headaches everyday since, unable to get a restful nights sleep; he twitches every two seconds in his sleep and has been talking clearly in his sleep every single night, which he never did before (either). He then got into another car accident two days ago and slept about 26 hours the night of the accident. When he finally did wake up, he did not remember the accident or anything else from that day except for what he did that morning. He's been very tired all day and night and has been having headaches all day and night. I tried to get him to the hospital to get checked out today but he wouldn't go. Could this be serious?

Brief Answer:
This could possibly be serious

Detailed Answer:
I am concerned. Visit to your doctor / ER is warranted.

Even though he had a minor accident the first time, there is possibility that he developed post traumatic stress disorder and also post traumatic headache following it. Amnesia was not there in the first but the second episode and that might actually be a symptom of significant brain trauma. Please show him to a neurologist and get his brain scan done to rule out any significant brain trauma that might need some intervention.

Hope this helps.

Hi doctor, thank you for your response. I just wanted to ask you if there wohld be any other visible side effects of any brain trauma or anything serious? I ask because my husband used to take xanax for anxiety after his father passed and he's only been off of them for almost 3 weeks, so I assumed part of these symptons were minor withdrawal symptons. Could that be? The sleeping habbits are getting better and the headaches seem to have subsided. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
you may not have any external injury in braininjur

Detailed Answer:
You may not have external trauma in brain injury. Also patient was addicted to anxiolytics but withdrawal would not cause loss of consciousness. If your husband is OK now then you just wait or watch but if he is still disoriented then go to hospital.
