Suggest Treatment For Postpartum Teeth Sensitivity
Can be due to reduced calcium levels or acid reflux..
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain sensitivity of teeth after child birth can be seen commonly due to reduced calcium levels in the body of the nursing mother and is due to breastfeeding and the milk that is secreted contains high calcium levels that is carried away with the milk out of the body of the mother..
As the tooth is a calcified structure needs normal levels of calcium and phoshates for the process of re-mineralization as there is continuous demineralization and re-mineralization procedure that goes on over the teeth..
Another common cause can be mineral loss secondary to acid reflux in which acid from stomach refluxes back into mouth and can cause chemical erosion of teeth which leads to sensitivity..
Kindly answer the following questions for my better understanding of your problem so that I can provide you the most appropriate information..
1. Do you have swollen or bleeding gums along with sensitivity?
2. Do you experience or have experienced in past symptoms like heart burn, or a sour liquid coming to throat and mouth?
3. Do you take any vitamin or calcium supplements?
4.Are all your teeth sensitive or any specific areas more sensitive than others?
5.Are there deposits over the teeth that could not be cleaned with toothbrush?
Kindly reply soon so that I can guide you better towards treatment..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome Again..
Thanks for the answers..
As per your answers it seems like there are demineralized areas over the teeth causing Dentinal Hypersensitivity leading to exposure of nerve endings causing sensitivity..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and along with clinical examination he can also advise you x-rays if required..
In case if it it is only due to demineralization and not any other problem like cavities in teeth he/she can advise you to take Calcium supplements, continue the use of desensitizing toothpaste like certain examples are Sensoform, RA Thermoseal, Senquel F etc..
The dentist can also do Fluoride application, other procedures that can help is resin bonding.
Certain at home remedies can be;
-Use a soft toothbrush and a fluoride containing toothpaste.
-Avoid very hot and cold fluids and foods.
-Avoid acidic foods and carbonated drinks.
-Avoid vigorous brushing and brush your teeth only for 2 minutes.
Any further queries are welcome..
Wishing you a good health..
Thanks and regards..
