Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Blood In Semen

Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: I had jaundice on XXXXXXX 23, I had high bilirubin and had jaundice. When I urinate used be brown, that’s when they investigated me with liver infection. Doctor prescribed me with CEPHALEXIN for 10 days because I had the liver infection. Now when I urinate is back to normal and the bilirubin value is back to normal. I will see a liver specialist in Wednesday. To talk about the possibility of hepatitis.

However, I noticed the red blood in my sperm around XXXXXXX 28. (Now I am not taking any medicine) I thought there was a vein tear within my prostate. Last week, I was a brown color, I let it rest thinking it may get better. This past two days I still notice the brown color and I urinate/ ejaculated I don't feel any pain.
What should I do? Will the brown sperm go away?

Brief Answer:
Brown colour semen may be due to Infection of prostate .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Hematospermia.

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Did you have unprotected sex very recently ?

Hematospermia that you have could be due to infection of prostate or seminal vesicle and needs to be investigated

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
4) Semen Examination and Culture .
5) Coagulation profile .

In the meanwhile start taking antibiotics like combination of Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim (Bactrim) twice daily along with Vitamin C .

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Hi,

In regards to your question, I do not have any unprotected sex recently, I always wear protection and last time I had it probably close to a year.

What could cause an infection to the liver? could a fever medicine cause it? or bacteria?

What foods I should avoid eating and I should eat to avoid further damage due to the infections?

Does the brown sperm produced during ejaculation occurs right away and produced by the prostate glands? and should I be ejaculating it anytime soon?

Is this treatable ?

A LOT of questions, thank you for answering them!

Brief Answer:
Liver infection is commonly could to Virus.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

The liver infection is mainly due to Virus and not due to any medicines taken for a short period for fever .
Take high protein low fat diet for early recovery from Hepatitis.

Take multivitamins as suggested by your family physician .

Hematospermia will get resolved after taking appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .It is curable completely .

You need not ejaculate very frequently .

Thanks and Regards.
